Premium materials

Each material used in RHA products is selected for durability, comfort and sonic excellence.

Anodised aluminium

Aluminium is a lightweight but long-lasting element, resistant to corruption or corrosion; it is also suited to machining into different shapes and uses.

A grade of aluminium alloy common throughout the aerospace industry is used in the S Series and MA Series housings because it is both lightweight and durable; both desirable qualities for in-ear headphones.

A different grade of aluminium is used for the Dacamp L1 casing: using an adapted extrusion process a single, solid housing unit is created. This both houses the Dacamp's complex internals, and shields the circuitry from EM interference.

Moulded ceramic

A material introduced with the CL1 Ceramic in-ear headphone, Zr02 is a dense, durable material with many uses; from jet engines to synthetic diamonds. It has incredibly low internal resonance properties, making it ideal for creating headphone housings that deliver sound completely without distortion.

A treated compound of Zr02 is combined with silver and zinc to make the CL1 Ceramic's plate transducer.

Stainless steel

303F grade stainless steel - a quality designed specially for complex machining - is used to create the Aerophonic™ housings of the acclaimed MA750, MA750i and CL750 in-ear headphones.

A powdered form of stainless steel is also used in the complex injection moulding process used to create the ergonomic housings of the T Series, and to reinforce the mouldable over-ear hooks engineered to hold them in place behind the ear.

Injection moulding

RHA T Series in-ear headphones and the CL1 Ceramic are both created using complex variants of the injection moulding manufacturing process using stainless steel and ceramic.

1. Finely powdered steel or ceramic is combined with a synthetic polymer to increase their elastic properties.
2. The two materials are heated and combined in a liquid which is then injection moulded into the shape required, but 20% larger.
3. The polymer particles are extracted from the formed housing pieces, known as ‘brown parts’, using a combination of dissolution and evaporation. 
4. The housing parts are subjected to intense heat in order to reduce the parts’ size and increase density.
5. The parts are checked for imperfections before being hand polished to achieve the highest possible quality finish.
6. The pieces are assembled with other components including the drivers, cable, protective paper mesh and port cover to complete the headphone.

Cables

Durability, flexibility and clear, faithful signal transmission are paramount to creating a cable that can power true-to-life listening experiences.

OFC

Oxygen-free copper is a high-purity metal that is also resistant to corrosion. Combined with durable, shielded wrapping materials, like premium thermoplastic elastomers and fabric braid, it is ideal for use in headphone cables.

Gold-plated connections are used as gold is a highly conductive metal resistant to degradation.

Ag4x

RHA's CL1 Ceramic headphone includes a fully-balanced Ag4x cable. The cores are completely channel-isolated; left stereo will never meet right stereo, or their respective grounds, eliminating any risk of distortion or cross-channel interference. Ag4x cores are coated with a high-grade silver for premium signal purity.
